The Gap We Kept Seeing
A plant will invest six figures in a machine to take thirty seconds out of a cycle. In the same building, three salaried people spend a dozen hours a week retyping information one system already holds.
The machine gets attention because it's measurable. The retyping isn't on any report, so it isn't anyone's number, so it isn't anyone's problem.
Large manufacturers solve this with a full-time role. A 60-person plant in Arkansas can't justify one, so it gets vendors instead — each holding a product, each finding the problem their product solves. Ask a scheduler why they keep a private spreadsheet and you'll get the answer in one sentence. Most of this job is asking plainly and being safe to answer honestly.
- Independence is the product
No software reselling, no vendor commissions. The moment a finding could be worth money to us, it stops being worth anything to you.
- "Leave it alone" is a real finding
Plenty of friction isn't worth what removing it costs. An advisor who never recommends doing nothing isn't advising.

Fact, estimate and assumption get labeled separately, so you can weigh them yourself.
